Robert Irwin and his professional dancing partner Witney Carson have put their blood, sweat and tears into their Dancing With The Stars journey… literally. The show’s grand finale is just days away and the duo will have to perform three dances, making it a seriously intense week.

They will each perform a Judges’ Choice dance, an Instant Dance, where they don’t know the song or style until moments before going on stage, and a Freestyle routine. Witney shared some behind-the-scenes moments of their preparation, and revealed how much she’s putting her body on the line for the finale.

“Well, this happened … and yes, that’s my real hair,” she wrote. “[It] ripped out of my scalp. Blood, sweat and hair into this freestyle.”

In the photo, Witney laughed as she held a large chunk of her hair as Robert and other dancers stood around her in shock.

While it’s unclear how her hair got ripped from her head, the dancer didn’t seem too fazed by the moment.

Robert is hoping to follow in his sister Bindi Irwin’s footsteps this week and take home the mirrorball trophy, after she won the competition with current judge Derek Hough in 2015.

Witney previously won the competition with the show’s current host, Alfonso Ribeiro, in 2014.

Robert and Witney have created a beautiful bond and have described each other as like siblings.

“I instantly felt so protected. Witney’s become like an older sister so quickly,” Robert said on the Viall Files podcast.

“All of my confidence comes from Witney. It comes from leaning on the experience that we have in rehearsals, trusting your body, trusting the process, trusting your partner.”

“I’ve never done anything like this, but I’ve got the best ever to guide me through this process.

“So, I’m just like full trust, all in, send it. I don’t even care. I’m just going to give it every ounce of what I’ve got and hope for the best.”

Witney first met Robert when he was just 11 and was supporting his older sister Bindi from the audience.

She admitting she hadn’t even considered that she would one day end up being partnered with the youngest Irwin sibling.

“Our age gap was very, very big,” she told the Hollywood Reporter. “I’ve adored their family for years. I love Bindi, so it feels very full circle.

“From the second that he walked into the room for the start of the season, it just felt automatically right and meant to be. So now that it’s happened, it feels right.”
