A primary school has briefly been locked down during a reported stabbing.

The incident is believed to have occurred at the Brentwood Park Primary School in Berwick, southeast Melbourne, about 9am on Thursday.

Police attended the scene and found a boy had been stabbed on school grounds and was treated for non-life threatening injuries by paramedics.

Another woman also sustained minor injuries.

“An 11-year-old boy was located and spoken to by police,” Victoria Police said.

He is not currently in custody.

An email from the school to parents and guardians, obtained by 7NEWS, alerted them students “went into a lockdown for a short period”.

“We are now out of lockdown and all students and staff are safe,” the email read.

The investigation is ongoing.
