Troy Parrott finds himself in demand after an incredible couple of games in an Ireland shirt in which he dragged his country to the FIFA World Cup play-offs.

Parrott bagged a brace in Ireland’s unlikely 2-0 defeat of Portugal in Dublin, before days later cementing his place in history in Budapest.

That legendary hat-trick vs Hungary, scoring his third with what was his last kick of the game, secured a route for Ireland to still get to the World Cup in 2026.

He has been equally effective at club level too, scoring at an impressive rate with AZ Alkmaar both in the Eredivisie and in Europe.

Having impressed after his move to AZ Alkmaar in the summer of 2024, he has taken his game to a whole new level. The striker has scored 14 goals and registered two assists in 15 appearances at club level this season.

However, Parrott has quelled the talk around a possible move after stressing his contentment with his current situation in the Netherlands.

“I’m really comfortable here, I’m really happy here,” he said in a press conference.

I feel I’m progressing really well and I really enjoy being here and playing here, so I’m fully focused on being here.

“AZ have helped me massively to keep developing, keep getting better. I just have to keep trusting that the work I’m putting in here and the help I’m getting is going to benefit me, and keep pushing to do well.”

Parrott’s attention is on 2024 LOI champions Shelbourne, who battle AZ Alkmaar in the Europa Conference League on Thursday.

Shelbourne, Parrott’s local club growing up, will host the striker and his teammates at Tolka Park.

Elsewhere, The42’s David Sneyd has reported that Parrott is not keen on an imminent move to the Premier League and would prefer to play in another top European division before trying England ‘in three years’ time’.
