New York Giants quarterback Jameis Winston had an average time of 3.22 seconds to throw the football Sunday, the second-longest average time to throw for any quarterback in the league Week 12. Detroit recorded just one sack on Winston Sunday, though it was a big one in OT by Hutchinson to seal the win.
In the first meeting against the Packers, Detroit’s defense failed to sack Packers quarterback Jordan Love and hit him just twice. Detroit needs to find a way to generate more consistent pressure this time around, whether that’s with their front four or via the blitz. Detroit’s 32 sacks on the season rank eighth in the NFL.
The Lions ended last season No. 1 in the NFL with the fewest number of dropped passes (7) and lowest drop percentage (1.7). For whatever reason, drops have popped up as an issue at times throughout the course of this season. Detroit has already doubled their drop total from last season with 14 in 11 games with a drop percentage of 5.4 percent.
Wide receivers Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jameson Williams have both been credited with five drops this season. Detroit’s pass catchers have to make the most of their opportunities to make plays in the passing game today against a Packers’ defense that ranks top five in the NFL in both scoring and total defense.
