One witness described what she saw.
“We were sitting down and I was feeding my daughter and all of a sudden we just seen a whole bunch of people surrounding one guy and one guy jumped on another and it was chaotic,” she said.
“We didn’t see anything [in terms of a weapon] but there was a lot of shouting and everything like that and we just got up and walked away.”
She said she then took refuge in a nearby shop.
“We were in Big W for like 10 minutes and then we were just locked down. All the doors shut and the we just sat in the toy section with our kids, playing with toys,” she said.
“We had to walk right around the shopping centre to walk to our cars.”
