A multi-day storm is impacting school bus routes on Friday morning, as winds blew in 25 cm of snow in some areas of Waterloo Region, with more on the way.

Snow events have since been declared across Waterloo Region, including in Kitchener. Environment Canada warns that this will be a long-duration event with snow squalls persisting into Saturday morning. Strong 70 km/h winds are reducing visibility to near zero at times.

One high school closed due to the significant amounts of snow, making the school’s parking lot inaccessible to emergency vehicles. Parents and guardians are being asked to pick up the students.
