Calgary has been slammed by snow and cold weather this week, but the temperature is set to swing, with the city expected to warm up next week.
After several days of chills and slippery sidewalks, this turn should provide some noticeable relief.
Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) predicts that the cold weather will subside next week, with daytime highs reaching 6°C.
Tonight’s overnight low of -16°C is the coldest temperature predicted over the next week, followed by Saturday night with a low of -14°C. While the chill continues through the weekend, conditions won’t be as harsh earlier in the week.
Things start to improve on Sunday, with the temperature ranging between -5 °C and -1°C. Thankfully, it only goes up from there, with Monday leading the way to above freezing temperatures with a mix of sun and clouds and a high of zero.
Temperatures continue to improve as we move into Tuesday, which will see a high of 2°C and a low of -6°C, with a 30 per cent chance of flurries.
Wednesday and Thursday are when it really picks up, with Wednesday seeing a low of 1°C and a daytime high of 6°C, which is a whopping temperature swing of 22 degrees from Friday’s overnight low.
If the forecast holds, we won’t even be dipping below freezing on Wednesday night, with a low of 1°C. Not too shabby to kick off the first few days of December!
