New York City will get three mega-casinos after a state commission awarded licenses to Mets owner Steve Cohen and two other proposals to open glitzy gambling parlors in a city that has largely been off limits.

Cohen, the billionaire investor, and Hard Rock have proposed building a casino next to the Mets’ Citi Field in Queens. They have estimated spending $8 billion on the project, which would include a hotel and concert venue and connect with the future site of New York City Football Club’s stadium.
