A man was fatally injured in Tourmakeady on Saturday last.

The incident occurred at an Uisce Eireann water infrastructure construction site

The Health and Safety Authority says it is aware of the fatal incident and has launched an investigation .

It’s believed the man who died was a native of county Galway. His name has not been released.

In a statement this afternoon to Midwest News Uisce Eireann says “It is with deep regret and sadness that Uisce Éireann confirms that a man working on behalf of our contractor, at a water infrastructure construction site in Co. Mayo has passed away, following a workplace accident on Saturday, the 29th of November. 

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family, work colleagues, and friends of the deceased at this very difficult time. 

 Uisce Éireann is liaising with the relevant authorities in relation to this incident.Â
