CINEA has launched the new digital publication “CEF Energy – Connecting Europe for an Affordable, Secure and Green Future”, timed to coincide with the 6th edition of the PCI Energy Days and the release of the 2nd list of Projects of Common Interest/Projects of Mutual Interest (PCI/PMI), in which several CEF-supported projects feature prominently. This comprehensive publication highlights the essential role of the Connecting Europe Facility for Energy (CEF Energy) in driving Europe’s energy transition – ensuring affordability, security and sustainability across the European energy system.
Since its start in 2014, CEF Energy has supported more than 200 cross-border infrastructure actions that strengthen Europe’s internal energy market, improve security of supply and accelerate the integration of renewables. At the same time, the programme continues to evolve to meet emerging needs, supporting strategic new areas such as hydrogen infrastructure, offshore energy, cross-border CO₂ networks and smart grids, while reinforcing existing electricity and gas transmission networks.
The publication includes a detailed portfolio chart illustrating how CEF Energy channels investment into six strategic infrastructure strands. Each sector is explored in depth, offering insights into investment trends and achievements, future priorities and flagship projects supported under the programme.
Looking ahead, CEF Energy will continue to align with the ambitions of the TEN-E Regulation. With more than €1.63 billion remaining for 2026-2027, the programme’s upcoming annual calls will offer significant opportunities for PCIs/PMIs and cross-border renewables projects.
