Gardaà have arrested another man in connection with the investigation into the attempted murder of young Lifford man, Charles Dooher, earlier this year.
The man, aged in his 40s, was arrested on Monday and detained at a Garda Station in the Dublin Metropolitan Region under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.
However, he has since been released and a file will be prepared for the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions DPP.
Two men were arrested in January by the PSNI in Derry as part of the investigation but were later released on bail.Â
The PSNI arrested another man in July and Gardaà arrested a woman, 50s, in Donegal, the previous week. Both were later released without charge, pending further investigations.
Anyone with any information that can assist with the investigation is asked to contact Letterkenny Garda Station on 074 9167100, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.
Charles Dooher was critically injured after being attacked by five masked men with bats at his home in Lifford on January 20.
The 27-year-old was rushed to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast where his family kept a ’round-the-clock vigil praying for his recovery.
He has numerous operations including having a metal plate fixed inside his head following the horrendous attack at Coneyburrow Road.
An investigation into the attack was upgraded to an attempted murder investigation such was the extent of Charles’ injuries.
