Tipperary may have won the All-Ireland earlier this year, but the county will not be resting on their laurels as they seek to retool ahead of another tilt at the Liam MacCarthy in 2026.

Liam Cahill’s side improved dramatically this season, bouncing back from a couple of disappointing campaigns to return to hurling’s top table. They built steadily over the course of the season, peaking at the ideal moment to overcome Cork in an All-Ireland final.

Tipperary will certainly come under more scrutiny next season as they enter the year as defending champions, although they have already made some interesting additions to their playing panel.

Former All-Star Winner Reportedly Makes Shock Return To Tipperary Panel

The Nenagh Guardian are reporting Liam Cahill has added 15 players to the Tipperary panel for 2026, including the return of one very familiar face.

It is said that 2019 All-Star goalkeeper Brian Hogan is set to make a dramatic return to the panel, having spent the last three years in Australia.

Hogan was a key member of the Tipp team that won the Liam MacCarthy at the turn of the decade. His last appearance for the county came back in the summer of 2022 before emigrating Down Under.

Still just 29-years old, it will be interesting to see how big of a part the goalkeeper could play next season. Tipperary are well stocked in the position, with Rhys Shelly winning an All-Star in his first season as the no. 1.

Liam Cahill is clearly keen to add to the competition within the group, also brining in seven players from this year’s U20 side into the training panel.

The county have some lofty goals to go for next season. Tipperary have not won consecutive All-Ireland titles since the 1960s, while 2026 will also mark a decade since their last Munster title.
