One tramper dead, one rescued after beacon activated near Klondyke Tahu Saddle

One person is dead and another rescued following a tramping trip on the West Coast.

Police were notified at around 6.30pm on Friday that a personal locator beacon (PLB) had been activated near the Klondyke Tahu Saddle in Victoria Forest Park.

Police Search and Rescue attended and found a tramper
and the dead person.

Weather conditions prevented recovery of the body until Saturday, when a helicopter was able to be deployed.
