A man has died and another man has been arrested following a single-vehicle crash on the M50 in Dublin in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
Gardaà are appealing for witnesses to the collision, which occurred on the N2/M50 northbound slip road at Junction 5 shortly after 1am.
One of the vehicle’s occupants, a man in his 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Another passenger, a woman in her 30s, was taken to the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital, where she remains in serious condition.
A man in his 20s was arrested at the scene under the Road Traffic Act. He is currently detained at a garda station in the Dublin Metropolitan Region under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.
The body of the deceased man was removed to the Whitehall morgue, where a post-mortem examination will be carried out.
A technical examination of the scene was completed by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators, and the road is expected to reopen shortly.
Gardaà are appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision to contact them.
Road users with camera footage who were travelling in the area between 12.30am and 1.30am are asked to make it available to investigating gardaÃ.
