Charlie Curnow will not play in Carlton’s remaining four games of the season.
Carlton co-vice captain Charlie Curnow will not play in the Club’s remaining four games of the season, with the decision made today for the forward to undergo a necessary clean-up of his knee.
Curnow has been managing some knee soreness following last Thursday’s game against Hawthorn, with further consultation in the middle of this week determining that a clean out would be required.
The decision was made today for the procedure to take place now, in order to ensure he would be ready for when the Club returns for pre-season training.
Since returning to the side in Round 2, Curnow has gone on to play every game since in 2025, booting 32 goals to currently lead the Club’s goal kicking for a fourth consecutive season.
“While Charlie wanted to finish the season strongly, and we would have loved to have him out there for the remaining games, after further consultation this week it became clear that this would give Charlie the best chance to get himself right, recover fully over the off-season and be ready for when we return for the start of pre-season,” Carlton GM of Football Brad Lloyd said.
“Waiting until the end of the season could have impacted that, so we’ve taken the sensible approach.
“As we’ve seen in the back half of this season, we’ve been able to give opportunities to players who have been able to step up at senior level and show some real promise – we will look to continue to do that, as we set our sights on a strong finish to the season.”
