Detective Acting Inspector Peter Hocken said a group of teenage girls had been watching the sunset at Moffat Beach.Â
“They went over the railing to get a better view of the sunset, taking photos,” he said.
“They’ve proceeded to make their way back up the embankment and unfortunately a 17-year-old has slipped and fallen 30 metres onto the rocks below.”
He said her friends and bystanders had provided immediate first aid, describing the situation as “very, very confronting”.
“They’re young girls … doing nothing other than enjoying life,” he said.
“Unfortunately, one wrong footstep has caused her to fall.”
