Gardaí have described as “serious” a crash involving a bus and a pedestrian just outside Edenderry on Friday morning. 

They have taken the decision to close the road but have not yet confirmed casualties. It’s understood a bus travelling on the road between Edenderry and Carbury struck a pedestrian. 

In a statement, they said: “Gardaí are currently at the scene of a road traffic collision at Carbury, Co. Kildare, this morning, Friday 12th December 2025.

“The R402 at Kishawanny Road junction is currently closed with local diversions in place.”

The collision happened during the business morning rush out of Edenderry with many people using the R402 on their way to the M4 motorway which connects to Dublin.
