The commute times for some drivers have tripled while the northbound lanes of State Route 167 remain flooded.
AUBURN, Wash. — The northbound lanes of State Route 167 remain underwater Tuesday morning, closing the road for six miles between Kent and Auburn.
The closure starts at milepost 16 and extends to milepost 22 near South 212th Street in Kent.Â
The road initially closed in both directions on Monday afternoon after the Green River levee failed in Auburn. The southbound lanes have reopened, but the northbound lanes remain flooded.Â
The Washington State Department of Transportation recorded heavy traffic and extended travel times along Interstate 5, Interstate 405 and State Route 18 due to the closure.Â
Drivers are advised to expect extended travel times on Tuesday morning, as SR 167 traffic will be diverted onto local roads or other highways.Â
There is no estimated time as to when the northbound lanes will reopen. Compounding the issue, many local roads in Kent and Auburn are also closed due to flooding.Â
The City of Auburn posted a list of roads that remained closed on Tuesday morning here.Â
