Motorists are advised of delays on the M50 as firefighters are responding to a waste truck on fire this evening.

Dublin Fire Brigade is currently at the scene of the fire on the M50 Northbound at J7 in Lucan, Dublin.

A spokesperson for the fire brigade said road users can expect the full closure.

However, they added they’ve “made good progress and are hoping to open a lane soon”.

Four fire engines, a foam tender and an emergency tender are also at the scene.

“Firefighters are currently responding to a waste truck fire, Northbound on M50 in Dublin J7 Lucan,” he said.

“A full closure is in place, we’ll keep you updated as the incident develops,” a spokesperson for the Dublin Fire Brigade said.

A spokesperson for Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) Traffic has described the incident as “serious”.

They also advised motorists to expect delays during their journeys, adding that all lanes are currently closed between J7 Lucan and J6 Blanchardstown.

Dublin Airport has also advised passengers travelling to the airport this evening to be aware of delays.

“Passengers travelling to the airport this evening should note that the M50 northbound is currently closed between Junction 7, Lucan, and Junction 6, Blanch, due to a vehicle fire,” a spokesperson for Dublin Airport said.
