Manchester United may have made some progress on the pitch in recent times, but there remains some issues to solve in the dressing room. Bruno Fernandes’ gripes with the club have been well publicised in recent days, with the future of Kobbie Mainoo also very much up in the air.

The young midfielder has struggled massively for playing time this season, with Roben Amorim seemingly not a fan of the 20-year old. Despite this, Mainoo’s request to go out on loan during the summer transfer window was rejected by the club.

The latest incident involving the England international saw his brother wear a ‘free Kobbie Mainoo’ shirt at Old Trafford for Manchester United’s draw with Bournemouth earlier this week.

Roy Keane Had Doubts About Kobbie Mainoo After Antics Vs Ireland

Opinion has been split on Kobbie Mainoo’s situation at Manchester United this season. While some feel he was harshly treated, others are of the opinion that there be some potential attitude problems with the player.

Speaking on Stick To Football, Roy Keane recalled a moment during England’s game against Ireland in Dublin in September of 2024 that first made him question Mainoo’s attitude.

I saw Mainoo play for England against Ireland. When he started doing well he played against Ireland in the Nations League.

England were much stronger than Ireland, this was in Dublin. It was easy, he was taken when they were 2-0 up.

He was taken off after about 60 or 65 minutes. I watch these young players, see how they’re doing at United and making noise, I just kind of watched him closely.

He was taken off after about 65 minutes, the game was over and England were cruising.

He took about ten minutes to walk off the pitch. By that, I mean he was (clapping). I was like ‘get off the f*****g pitch’. It was like it was his testimonial…

These are little things I might be looking at, I’m sure the club and manager might be looking at it…

When I say it took him about ten minutes to walk off, I mean it took him about ten minutes. A young player like that, just get off the pitch. He was applauding for about ten minutes.

I wouldn’t mind if they were beating Brazil, they were much stronger than Ireland.

It is fairly obvious that Roy Keane is not the biggest fans of the player’s attitude.

It remains to be seen how Kobbie Mainoo’s situation at Manchester United this season will be resolved, although it seems clear there remains a number of issues when it comes to his relationship with the club.
