Against the backdrop of widespread riots that occurred earlier in Jerusalem, ultra-Orthodox extremists from the “Jerusalem Faction” are blocking the northern Ashkelon intersection. The organization had planned to demonstrate outside the home of a Military Police officer, but due to police activity preventing their arrival, they instructed protesters to block roads that would be barricaded by officers. The faction’s protest organization stated that the blockades are “due to the criminal arrest of yeshiva students for studying Torah and attempts to arrest yeshiva students in their homes.”
