Australia’s day – again

England are on the brink after another day dominated by the hosts.

Ben Stokes and Jofra Archer did their best with the bat early on – Archer making his first Test 50 and Stokes eventually falling for 83 from 198 balls.

With the ball, trailing by less than 100, England struck early as Carse and Tongue removed Weatherald, Labuschagne and green cheaply before Jacks picked up the wicket of Khawaja.

After that, though, it was the Head-Carey show as Travis picked up his latest century in Adelaide and Alex picked up 50 of his own in a partnership that is well over 100.

It now, unfortunately, seems to be a matter of when – rather than if – Australia retain these Ashes.
