A young mother-of-two who died following a fatal road crash on the N2 at Castleblayney yesterday has been named locally.

Emma Mackarel (nee McClean) from Latgallan, Clones died at the scene of the collision.

Gardaí and emergency services were alerted to a collision involving a HGV and a car on the N2 at Mullaghnee, Annalitten, Castleblayney that occurred at approximately 8am yesterday morning.

Emma is deeply regretted and remembered with love by her heartbroken family, husband Andrew, daughter Eva, son Alec, parents John and Linda, sister Donna (Rodney), brother David (Hayley), grandfather Thomas McClean, father and mother-in-law Eric and Betty Mackarel, brother-in-law Alan (Sallyann), sister-in-law Tanya, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and many friends.

Funeral service will take place on Sunday the 21st of December at 2pm at Stonebridge Presbyterian Church, Gransha More, Clones, Co Monaghan (H23N524) followed by interment in the adjoining graveyard.

Meanwhile, Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact them.

Any road users, who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were traveling on the N2 between Castleblayney and Broomfield between 7:30am and 8:15am are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
