Yellow alert means postal workers will do their best to deliver, but there may be delays. This also includes mail collection

Don’t be surprised if your mail is late today or doesn’t arrive at all.

Yesterday Canada Post issued a yellow alert for northern Ontario that remains active.

“We issued a yellow delivery service alert for Northern Ontario, including Sault-Saint Marie, on Thursday because of the severe winter conditions in parts of the region,” said Phil Legault, a spokesperson with Canada Post, by email.

“We encourage customers to clear the ice from their walkways, stairs, and driveways, to ensure safe access to the front door for both their visitors, as well as their delivery agents, when service resumes,” Legault said.

Yellow alert means postal workers will do their best to deliver, but there may be delays. This also includes mail collection.

“Delivery and mail collection will resume once conditions improve and it’s safe to do so,” the Canada Post alerts page says.

The safety of employees is their number one priority, the page said.
