A Fire Weather Warning for wind and low relative humidity will be in effect from Friday morning through Friday evening for the Colorado Front Range and eastern plains.

The National Weather Service in Boulder issued a rare “Particularly Dangerous Situation” Fire Weather Warning for Boulder, Highway 93, and the northern Jefferson County foothills. Wind gusts up to 100 mph and relative humidity as low as 8% are forecast.

Early Friday morning, westerly downslope winds will bring strong gusts to the Front Range mountains and foothills, with potential for high winds over the Denver metro area and plains. Friday’s wind event is forecast to begin earlier than Wednesday’s, starting overnight and lasting until sunset Friday.

The winds will die down for the weekend, with highs in the upper 50s and sunshine ahead. We continue with a warm and dry outlook through Christmas next week.
