FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) — Storm systems have arrived in California during Christmas week, forecast to bring heavy rainfall, snow and the possibility of flash flooding.

The entire state, including the Central Valley, will be impacted during one of the busiest travel weeks of the year.

A Flood Watch will be in effect for the entire Valley until 4 pm Friday. It will extend into the Foothill and mountain communities.

Rainfall started Tuesday evening and has ramped up on Wednesday, which is Christmas Eve. Another round is expected on Thursday, which is Christmas Day.

Extra caution should be taken on the roads when traveling. Over 30 MPH winds are expected for busy highways such as the Grapevine and Tehachapi Pass.

The Central Valley should expect intermittent showers accompanied by rounds of heavy rain until Friday. It will start to taper off on Saturday.

Resources are available across the Valley for those who need them. A full list of sandbags can be found here.
