The owner of Yellowknife’s B7 convenience store says his business has reopened with its usual hours after a lengthy police operation last week.
The nature of that operation remains unclear. RCMP were parked outside the shuttered downtown store throughout December 17 and officers turned away a reporter who tried to enter.
This week, store owner Mamush Feyisa said B7 had resumed regular trading. He termed the police operation “an inspection.”
Whether police interest in the business is ongoing could not be confirmed.
A Monday request to NWT RCMP was redirected to RCMP Federal Policing Northwest Region.
Two days later, in an unsigned email, the federal RCMP unit said it would not respond until after January 2, when its communications officer returns.
