A man has been arrested after a woman was attacked inside a property on Christmas Eve. Merseyside Police were called to an address on Lower Breck Road in Anfield shortly after 6.35pm on Wednesday, December 24, following reports a woman had been assaulted. She was taken to hospital with multiple head injuries and is described as being in a serious but stable condition.
A 57-year-old man from Anfield was arrested on suspicion of assault and possession of a Section 1 firearm after officers discovered an imitation firearm inside the property. He was also arrested on suspicion of criminal damage, perverting the course of justice and a homophobic hate offence after threats were allegedly made towards officers and damage was caused to a police vehicle.
The man was taken to a Merseyside police station, where he remains in custody. Witness enquiries and forensic examinations have been carried out, and officers remain at the scene as investigations continue.
