As the Department of Justice continues to release more of its files on convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, both President Donald Trump and Kentucky Rep. Thomas Massie took to social media on Christmas to exchange messages to one another related to the release of the files. In a lengthy Christmas message that only briefly mentioned the holiday at the beginning and end of the post, Trump wished a merry Christmas to the “many Slezebags who loved Jeffrey Epstein.””Merry Christmas to all,” wrote Trump on Truth Social Thursday night. “including the many Sleazebags who loved Jeffrey Epstein, gave him bundles of money, went to his Island, attended his parties, and thought he was the greatest guy on earth, only to ‘drop him like a dog’ when things got too HOT, falsely claimed they had nothing to do with him, didn’t know him, said he was a disgusting person, and then blame, of course, President Donald J. Trump, who was actually the only one who did drop Epstein, and long before it became fashionable to do so.”Trump then went on to name-drop Massie, who was one of two representatives in the House, along with Democratic Rep. Ro Khanna of California, to spearhead the bill that compelled the release.Trump continued, “When their names get brought out in the ongoing Radical Left Witch Hunt (plus one lowlife ‘Republican,’ Massie!), and it is revealed that they are Democrats all, there will be a lot of explaining to do, much like there was when it was made public that the Russia, Russia, Russia Hoax was a fictitious story – a total Scam – and had nothing to do with ‘TRUMP.'”The president then went on to attack The New York Times, before suggesting that this may be the “last Merry Christmas” for some.On X, Massie responded in a brief message just minutes after the post was made.”Merry Christmas to you too Mr. President!” wrote the representative. “So… I’ve teamed up with radical left democrats to expose… Democrats. This 4D chess is fun!”Dating back to Trump’s first term, Massie has long been one of the president’s most frequent targets on social media, with the Republican representative often demonstrating a willingness to oppose many key parts of the president’s agenda. This included the Big Beautiful Bill, which was passed into law in July. Massie has also voiced opposition to the president’s tariffs and military strikes against Iran this year. However, Trump’s public attacks against Massie have accelerated even more in the past few months since the representative became involved in efforts to compel the federal government to release its files on Epstein over the summer. This included one message from November when Trump referred to Massie as “the WORST Republican Congressman in decades.”Trump is now seeking to unseat Massie in 2026, having thrown his support in the Republican primary behind Ed Gallrein, a Shelby County farmer and retired Navy SEAL. Massie is running for his eighth term in office next year.Massie represents Kentucky’s 4th Congressional District, a solidly Republican district that encompasses most of Northern Kentucky. However, the Republican primary election, which is scheduled for May 19, could prove to be one of the most competitive in the representative’s career, with allies of the president preparing to spend large sums of money to unseat him.
