While sightings of Google Maps’ Street View car have been reported in the NWT this year, Yellowknife’s most recent Street View images remain from 2009.

Cabin Radio approached Google multiple times to inquire about the legitimacy of the apparent Street View car but received no response, though parts of the Yukon were on the published Street View update list for 2025.

No new Street View images of the NWT have lately appeared on Google Maps.

All this to say, we spent some time in Street View to check out how the territory’s capital has changed over the last 16 years.

We’ve picked out just over a dozen examples of significant differences but there are certainly more – send us photos if you want to take some of your own, and match the angle of the 2009 Street View equivalent if you can!
