A strong winter storm is bringing several severe winter hazards across the U.P.
Blizzard conditions continue today with gusts of 40-60mph. It’s coupled with heavy snowfall. This is causing dangerous travel conditions. Roads are impassable with whiteouts and deep snowdrifts. Please avoid travel!
These strong winds are also causing power outages, downed powerlines, downed trees, and lake shore flooding. Winds will begin to weaken below 40mph this evening.

Additional snowfall will range around a foot for the following counties: Marquette, Alger, Luce, and Schoolcraft. Otherwise, 4-6″ is expected in the Western U.P.
The low-pressure system will move into Ontario by tonight and the severe weather threats will end.
Today: Strong winds, heavy snow, and decreasing temperatures
>Highs: Low to mid 20s (decreasing to teens by the afternoon)
Tuesday: Light snow showers and colder
>Highs: Upper teens along shorelines, low to mid teens inland
Wednesday: Lake effect snow showers along the northwest wind belts

Thursday: Light lake effect snow showers

Friday: Snow showers and cold

Saturday: Scattered snow showers
>Highs: Low ot mid teens
Sunday: A wintry mix of rain and snow showers
