Neighbours reported hearing screams of “my leg, my leg” after a Sur-ron bike was involved in a crash with a police car in Kensington this evening. Merseyside Police were called to Stamford Street at around 3.25pm on Tuesday, January 13, following reports of the crash.

The rider, a man in his 20s, suffered leg injuries and was taken to hospital for assessment. A police car appeared to have mounted the pavement and collided with the garden wall of a house.

A cordon remains in place at the scene, with around six police vehicles parked on Needham Road.

One neighbour, who lives outside the cordon, told the ECHO she saw the police car and Sur-ron bile collide. She said: “I saw it all. You could just see his head; the rest of his body was under the car. It was horrific.

Another neighbour added: “I heard a man shouting ‘my leg, my leg.’ Next thing I heard sirens and then there was a load of police cars outside my house surrounding him.”

A section of Needham Road at the junction of Stamford Street remains closed.

A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: “We can confirm that emergency services are in Kensington following a road traffic collision this afternoon, Tuesday January 13.
