Richmond coach Adem Yze reveals more information on Jonty Faull’s knee injury.

Richmond coach Adem Yze has provided an update on young forward Jonty Faull, who suffered a knee injury in the Round 21 clash with Gold Coast.

Faull was subbed out of Saturday’s game early in the first quarter.

“It looks like he has tweaked his medial. That’s going to end his season,” Yze said.

“It’s nothing too sinister…it looks like he’s escaped an ACL.

“He was in good form, and it would have been nice for him to finish off the season.”

Yze explained the Tigers’ mixed emotions after the 84-point loss, with the Suns controlling the contest to record a 16.11 (107) to 2.11 (23) win.

“Part of it wasn’t up to AFL standard and it’s not good enough,” Yze said.

“We understand we are up against a strong team striving for something a bit different this year than what we are. There’s that element to it but on the flip side, we got some exposure to some of our younger boys in different positions.

“Exposure against a quality midfield like that, for Taj Hotton to play some midfield minutes, for Maurice Rioli to get in there, for Seth Campbell…we look to the future and gave them that exposure.”

Richmond’s attention now turns to next Saturday’s meeting with St Kilda at the MCG.

“There was a bit of pain today, it feels like we may have taken a step backwards,” Yze said.

“We are not going to turn our toes up for the rest of the season, we want to keep growing and we will keep fighting.

“We will lick our wounds this week, move on, and take on the Saints next weekend.”
