The UK looks set for another blast of heavy snow – with 50cm expected to fall in some areas.
Temperatures were also due to plummet to a bone-chilling -13C before the end of the month.
The latest weather maps from WXCharts indicated parts of the country will experience snowfall at rates of up to 10mm per hour on Thursday, January 29.

Birmingham, Wolverhampton and Coventry are just some of the cities that could see snow accumulations reach 30cm.
Meanwhile, northern regions, particularly the north of Scotland, may see snow depths reaching 50cm.
Scotland is also expected to bear the brunt of the significant temperature drop, with some areas experiencing a bitter -13C.
The Mirror reports that elsewhere across the nation, temperatures were expected to fall to around -4C.
The Met Office has also acknowledged the likelihood of additional snowfall before January ends.
The outlook for January 20 to 29 stated: “Throughout this period, the UK will see a battle between Atlantic weather systems attempting to arrive from the west while high pressure and colder conditions attempt to exert some influence from the east. Initially, milder Atlantic air is expected to dominate.
“This should maintain often cloudy, changeable conditions with showers or longer spells of rain for most. The wettest weather is in the western parts of the country, drier in the east.
“Temperatures overall likely to be around average with some night frosts in clearer areas.
“Later in the period, there is an increased chance that conditions will turn colder.
“This aspect of the forecast is still somewhat uncertain but the potential transition to colder weather also increases the chance of snow across parts of the country.”
