Celtic fans have been quick to pile in on Rangers after a statement made by their latest signing Andreas Skov Olsen.

The Dane joined the Gers on a season-long loan from Wolfsburg on Friday, but Danny Rohl’s side also have the option of turning it into a permanent deal at the end of the season.

Rangers fans have been delighted with Skov Olsen’s arrival, with fans even suggesting he has a slight likeness to Brian Laudrup in his style of play.

The Ibrox outfit are set to go head-to-head with Celtic and Hearts in the Premiership title race in the second half of the season, and Skov Olsen has already made himself a target for the Celtic faithful.

Football Insider recently revealed that Rangers could accept an offer for Oliver Antman before the end of the January window, with the Finland international unlikely to be needed after the new arrival.

Rohl and Co. will be hoping that Skov Olsen can make a big impact for the team on the pitch, but he has already sparked fury on social media during his opening interview following his move.

The winger labelled Rangers as the “biggest club” in Scotland during the interview, and that has unsurprisingly prompted something of a pile-on from Celtic fans as a result.

The Bhoys’ fans have taken to X to share their amusement at the comments from their rivals’ newest addition, and there was a running theme throughout the comments of the post from Sky Sports Scotland.

Embarrassing how insecure they are

One supporter suggested that it was “embarrassing” how insecure Rangers are as a club, while several pointed towards Celtic’s superior performances in the Champions League and their equal tally of league titles.

“Biggest”? By what measure? Stadia, turnover, trophies won, kit sold, European Cups?

Rangers PR “tell everyone rangers are the biggest team”. Reeks of major inferiority complex.

Forever in Celtics shadow.

Another fan outlined that Rangers have a “major inferiority complex,” while also suggesting that they are “forever in Celtic’s shadow.”

@hughp1970: “Biggest club in Scotland. Someone’s been given the script.”@kokalola79: “Under what metric are they the biggest club?”@KingOfKingsNo7: “Wait until he’s all confused, why am I not winning anything? Why are my own fans shouting hatred at me and booing? Why is the stadium empty after 70 mins?”When will Skov Olsen face Celtic for the first time?

Rangers hold the bragging rights over Celtic after their 3-1 victory in the latest Old Firm Derby on 3 January, and Skov Olsen’s comments are likely to have added even more intensity to the fixture moving forward.

The 26-year-old wasn’t signed in time to make his debut for his new club in the Scottish Cup clash with Annan Athletic on Friday night, but should be ready in time to be involved against Ludogorets next Thursday.

Celtic fans will have to wait a long while for their first opportunity to make their feelings known to Skov Olsen in person, as the next Old Firm Derby is not until 1 March.

Several crucial points are up for grabs in the title race between now and then, and everyone at Celtic Park will be desperately hoping that Rangers are left disappointed by yet another signing.
