Celtic progress into the fifth round of the Scottish Cup after an unconvincing win over Auchinleck Talbot at Rugby Park.

Celtic beat Auchinleck in a win that is verging on the embarrassing side for Martin O’Neill’s side who are clearly struggling up front.

The scale of the performance proves that drastic surgery is required on this tired Celtic squad that is clearly lacking in invention and creativity as the Bhoys struggled to break down the sixth-tier Junior side.

Johnny Kenny’s 33rd-minute goal was not added to until Sebastian Tounekti’s 85th-minute wonder-strike finally sent Celtic into the fifth round of the Scottish Cup.

Celtic have drawn in the next round of the Scottish Cup.

Ties are due to be played on the 7th of February depending on whether or not TV companies reschedule the game for live coverage.

With a league and Scottish Cup double on the line for the current Scottish champions, Martin O’Neill knows that his side will need to perform far better to get past Dundee than they did against Auchinleck Talbot in Kilmarnock tonight.

Celtic’s record vs Dundee in the Scottish Cup since 2000

Celtic don’t have a long history of facing Dundee in the Scottish Cup since the year 200o.

With only two fixtures played, Celtic have won both:

10/01/2009: Celtic 2 v 1 Dundee07/02/2015: Dundee 0 v 2 Celtic

With game at Celtic Park, at least the Hoops have home advantage as they look to progress into the quarter-final draw next month.
