Pictures have revealed the horrifying moment a car burst into flames following a crash on the M62. Emergency crews raced to the scene near Warrington on Sunday (January 18).
The motorway was forced to close at junction nine following the collision involving three vehicles. Both sides were initially shut, with diversions put in place.
The incident was reported at around 3.30pm, with one car bursting into flames after the crash. Dramatic photos show the vehicle fully ablaze on the carriageway with thick plumes of smoke seen billowing overhead.
Motorists were advised to avoid the area by National Highways and make alternative travel arrangements where possible, with the eastbound side of the carriageway expected to be closed ‘for some time’ into Sunday evening.
