Tamannaah Bhatia recalls a fan calling her ‘fat,’ talks body image, motherhood anecdotes, and how Aaj Ki Raat became a mealtime anthem for toddlers.
Tamannaah Bhatia opens up about being unintentionally called ‘fat’ by a fan, promoting body positivity, and the unexpected impact of her hit song Aaj Ki Raat on kids and mothers.
Tamannaah Bhatia has always been admired for her dazzling screen presence and effortless dance moves, but the actress recently got candid about body image, fan perceptions, and how she was unexpectedly labelled “fat” during a seemingly flattering encounter.
In a conversation with Lallantop, Tamannaah opened up about how people began associating her with a “bigger body size” around the time her popular songs Kaavaalaa and Aaj Ki Raat were released. The actress, however, saw herself very differently.
“When Aaj Ki Raat came out, I was praised for promoting body-positivity, for having a very desirable and likeable body,” Tamannaah recalled. “It was during that phase of Kaavaalaa and Aaj Ki Raat that people thought I was a bigger body size. But according to me, I was very slender.”
She then shared a particularly memorable fan interaction that shifted her perspective. “A woman came to me at a party and she said that women like her feel recognised because I was also so curvy, and she was also curvy, so they felt good after watching me in Aaj Ki Raat,” she said. “She used the word ‘fat’. But I didn’t think I was fat until then. It gave me perspective of what people thought about me.”
Tamannaah also spoke about the song’s surprising impact on children. “I can’t tell you the number of mothers that have called me up and said, ‘My child will eat food only if he hears Aaj Ki Raat,’” she laughed. “Bacche apne diaper mein aise aise hil rahe hote hai.”
Commenting on this curious trend, she added with a smile, “Ek aadh saal mein unko kaunse lyrics samajh mein aayenge? The mother’s concern is to feed her child. That is her priority, so be it.”
What’s Next for Tamannaah?
Tamannaah is gearing up for her next big-screen appearance in Vvan: Force Of The Forest, co-starring Sidharth Malhotra. The film, inspired by Indian mythology, is set in the heart of Central India and is scheduled for a theatrical release in May 2026.
She’s also reportedly collaborating with Ajay Devgn and Sanjay Dutt for an untitled project and has a web series in the pipeline titled Daring Partners, alongside Diana Penty. Details about both ventures are still under wraps.
