The disruption caused by Storm Chandra is not limited to the M5, with several nearby routes in Devon also affected by flooding.

The A30 has been impacted by surface water, with sections closed after flooding between the B3174/B3180 near Ottery St Mary and the B3184 for Exeter Airport. Vehicles were reported stranded in floodwater, and recovery work has been ongoing.

Local roads around Cullompton, Exeter and surrounding villages have also seen increased congestion as traffic diverts away from the motorway, placing additional pressure on rural and residential routes.

Drivers travelling to or from Exeter Airport, as well as those using key east–west routes across Devon, are being urged to plan ahead, allow extra time and check live updates before setting off.

National Highways continues to monitor conditions across the network, while the Met Office has warned that further heavy rain could lead to additional disruption.
