Two people are dead and two more are injured after a shooting Thursday in Surry County.
According to the State Bureau of Investigation, the shooting happened on Welcome Baptist Church Road in Mount Airy. SBI spokesperson Chad Flowers said two person died in the shooting.
Flowers said two of the victims were flown to the hospital.
Welcome Baptist Church on Facebook said the shooting was across the street from its church. However, the church said it did not involve anyone at the church.
It is unclear what led up to the shooting or if a suspect is in custody, but the SBI said it has agents on the scene and its investigation is ongoing.
