Three people are dead following a collision between a commercial motor vehicle and a passenger vehicle on Highway 11 west of Hearst.

Ontario Provincial Police confirmed the fatalities resulting from a “serious collision” between a transport truck and an SUV in a news release Sunday afternoon.

OPP said officers were notified of the crash on Highway 11 near Highway 631 at about 6 p.m. on Saturday.

A 36-year-old man from Kenora, a 36-year-old woman from Greenstone and a 57-year-old man from Constance Lake were pronounced deceased at the scene.

“No other injuries were reported,” OPP said in the news release.

Highway reopened

Highway 11, which was closed in both directions between Highway 631 west of Hearst and Highway 625 near Longlac for the investigation, has now fully reopened shortly before 4 p.m. on Sunday, according to OPP.

During the 22-hour closure, technical collision investigators and a reconstructionist attended the scene to assist with the police investigation.

OPP had warned on social media that closure was expected to be lengthy and that no emergency detour was in effect, advising the public to avoid the area.

Authorities had also advised the public to check for updates on the road closure by calling 511 or visiting 511on.ca.

OPP have not released any additional information about who was driving the vehicles involved in the crash, which vehicle the victims were in or if any charges are pending.

Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the collision or has dashcam footage from the area at the time of the incident to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
