A pilot and his 13-year-old son have tragically died after a plane crash off Mallorca.
The pilot, who is said to be American and a specialist in military and aerobatics flight, was flying a two-seater Team Rocket F-4 Raider plane, which crashed into the sea in the area of Puerto Soller on Saturday, August 2, at around 8:20pm.
Majorca Daily Bulletin reports that the plane crashed at around 8:20pm near Cap Gros between Soller and Deia, when an emergency search began, which continued until darkness.
The search resumed at first light on Sunday, and at around 1pm, the bodies of the pilot and his son were discovered.
A spokesman for the Civil Guard in Majorca said: “Around 1pm Civil Guard diving specialists from the elite GEAS unit mobilised as part of the emergency response involving our force, coastguards, the Navy and Air Force, recovered the bodies of the pilot and his son, who was with him in the plane.

“The bodies have been taken to Soller Port.”
The 60-year-old and his son, believed to be 13, have not yet been officially named.
The Guardia Civil have spoken to a number of witnesses. One of them, a local resident who was at sea with his family, told officers he saw the plane flying very low. It passed around 15 to 20 metres above them before crashing into the water and then sinking.
The plane was located at a depth of some 30 metres. Emergency teams are trying to determine whether the father and son were able to get out before it reached the seabed.
