Kingston Police are thanking members of the public after the suspect in a recent hit and run was identified less than a day after public assistance was requested.
Police had requested help from the public on Monday, Feb. 2, 2026, seeking to identify the driver involved in a collision at approximately 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2026. The driver had reportedly fled the scene following the collision, which occurred in the area of Princess Street and Sir John A. Macdonald Boulevard.
According to police, investigators were able to identify the suspect thanks to public assistance, and the suspect was subsequently charged under the Highway Traffic Act with;
Failure to remain (at the scene of a collision)Unauthorized (licence) platesFailure to provide required information

Kingston Police have released the above images (now removed) and are requesting public assistance to identify the suspect in a recent collision who reportedly fled the scene.
Police relayed information from a reported hit-and-run incident that occurred on Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2026, when the complainant and another driver were involved in a collision in the area of Princess Street and Sir John A. Macdonald Boulevard at approximately 5:30 p.m. According to police, the complainant’s vehicle was struck by a silver third-generation Toyota 4 Runner (manufactured from 1996 to 2002) bearing the British Columbia licence plate ‘WL7 93N.’
“The driver of the vehicle is described as a South Asian male between the ages of 20-30 years old,” Kingston Police said in a press release issued on Monday, Feb. 2, 2026.
“At the time of the incident, the driver was wearing a black North Face jacket and a green hooded sweater.”
