OAK LAWN, Ill. (WLS) — A freight train derailment impacted Metra services and caused road closures in Oak Lawn on Wednesday.

The derailment happened near the 108th Street railroad crossing.
A Metra spokesperson confirmed they received notice of the derailment at 4:45 a.m.
Oak Lawn police Central Avenue between 107th and Pleasant Boulevard was closed.
Ridgeland Avenue is closed between Southwest Highway and Washington Street, Chicago Ridge police said.
Police said therailroad crossing in the 10700-block of Central Avenue will be closed to all traffic for at least one day and possibly longer.
Metra confirmed they shut down all Southwest services as the derailment impacted their rails.
Martha Hill with Metra urged riders to look for an alternate route, or perhaps drive into the city.
Chicago Ridge police said the derailment did not involve hazardous materials.
Oak Lawn police said there were no injuries.
