Julian Araujo’s late goal against Kilmarnock was as dramatic as they come.

Just look at how the Celtic fans reacted, with bodies everywhere in the away end at Rugby Park.

It was yet another late goal for the Hoops under Martin O’Neill, in what is becoming a nerve-wracking (but incredibly rewarding) pattern.

On the Sky Sports broadcast of the game in the UK, there was no Ian Crocker, with Gary Weaver filling in on commentary due to the Rangers vs Hearts clash taking priority.

But no commentator in the UK is getting close to those in Brazil.

Why have Celtic been able to score so many late goals this season?

The game was shown on Canal GOAT in Brazil (not in Mexico, as has been reported elsewhere.)

They may not have had any skin in the game, but they certainly got up for it when the Araujo popped up with a late winner.

It’s yet another memorable moment in what is turning into one of the most dramatic Celtic seasons in recent memory.

It’s the fifth winning goal that Celtic scored after the 90-minute mark this season, equalling a Scottish Premiership record.

As for Araujo, it was simply the perfect moment to score a first goal in a Celtic jersey, after a rough first-half by him and many of his teammates.

Could the Mexican stay at Celtic long-term? Unlike with fellow January signings Junior Adamu, Joel Mvuka and Tomas Cvancara, there is no option to buy in his loan move.

That’s despite Bournemouth completely freezing him out in the first half of this season, not giving him a single minute of Premier League football.

The Cherries paid £8.3 million to take Araujo from Barcelona in 2024, and could be prepared to cut their losses after bombing him out of their squad.

But Araujo isn’t perfect, as O’Neill has been discussing…

What is the biggest difference you have noticed in this Celtic side under Martin O’Neill?

Speaking after the game, O’Neill ensured that the defender was kept firmly grounded with a reminder of how poorly he played in the first-half.

He said: “Right, there were periods in the first half where I would have retracted what I said, you know, but he did great.

“For him to arrive there in the box at that time, I’m still having to, I haven’t seen it back first time, but some of the lads are telling me he still had to put it into the net.

“So well done him, he made up for some of his first half recklessness.”
