Police have launched an investigation after an 18-year-old man was stabbed during a robbery. Merseyside Police were called to Besford Road in Belle Vale at around 6.30pm on Thursday, February 19, following reports the teenager had been attacked while riding his bike.

It is believed the victim had been cycling along the Loop Line, known locally as the Ralla, when he was approached and assaulted by another male. During the incident, he suffered a puncture wound to his back.

The electric bike was reportedly stolen during the attack.

The teenager was taken to hospital for treatment. His injury is not believed to be life-threatening.

Pictures taken at the scene show a significant police presence outside the Morrisons store on Besford Road, which is located just a short walk from the Loop Line. Officers could be seen in the area as enquiries were carried out.

Police said an investigation is now underway, with officers carrying out CCTV and witness enquiries in the surrounding area.

Chief Inspector Chris Bland said: “Enquiries are in the very early stages and we are seeking assistance from people living or passing through the local area to piece together what has happened.

“The carrying and using of knives is never acceptable and we remain committed to finding those responsible and bringing them to justice.”
