Prince William shared his “immense sadness” over the news of the death of army medic Corporal Lucy Wilde. The Prince of Wales took to social media on Sunday morning to share a poignant and heartfelt message.Â
It read: “It was with immense sadness that I learned of Cpl Lucy Wilde’s death. I remember our meeting during her time with the Welsh Guards, where her warmth and compassion were unmistakable. She served with courage and distinction as a medic and sought always to help others. I send my heartfelt condolences to her family and friends.”
The Prince of Wales, who has been Colonel of the Welsh Guards regiment since 2022, signed the personal message as: “Colonel William”.
Cpl Wilde of the Royal Army Medical Service was a British Army medic who became a star on TikTok documenting her life in the military. She gained thousands of followers on social media, where she would often document her exercises in the barracks’ gym or giving advice on health and fitness.
Well known within the army, she met Prince William, as he recalled in his statement, in his role of Welsh Guard Colonel, the regiment in which Cpl Wilde spent part of her career.
Cpl Wilde joined the army eight years ago and served in military operations in Kenya, the Falklands and South Georgia, and ran the Rome Marathon in 2024.
She had been attached to the Welsh Guards until Christmas when she moved on to her next posting with the 2nd Battalion, Royal Yorkshire Regiment.

Cpl Wilde was found dead at her barracks in Warminster, Wiltshire, on February 5. The Ministry of Defence said the circumstances surrounding Wilde’s death were being investigated.Â
A statement shared by the Welsh Guards read: “In the short time she spent with us, she quickly became part of the Welsh Guards family – not just as an exceptional Medic, but through the bonds of friendship she formed in the Welsh Guards, along with the warmth, humour and professionalism she brought to all who worked with her.”Â
Paying tribute to the corporal, the message also read: “Away from her medical duties, Lucy brought the same drive and positivity into everything she did. An extremely fit and highly motivated Physical Training Instructor, she was a familiar face in the gym, always encouraging others to push themselves and improve. Through her social media, she inspired many more – offering guidance on fitness, service life and the journey into the British Army.
“Lucy had a rare ability to lift those around her. She was popular, genuine and deeply respected. Her loss is felt across the Battalion and far beyond. Our thoughts are with Lucy’s family, friends and colleagues at this heartbreaking time.”
The statement also said Cpl Wilde will “always be remembered as part of the Welsh Guards family”.Â
