“We want everyone to know that we are all fine. We’ve been moved to a safe location and our home is being looked after/protected,” they said.

“From what we are hearing, we are at least the third family of the deceased to be harassed or threatened by people from their past since this awful tragedy took place.”

RCMP say they are staying connected with the community on this new Tumbler Ridge file, and investigation.

“RCMP officers in the community have connected with the mayor, and community leaders to ensure ongoing communication and public safety planning,” added Clark.

Vancouver’s City News reports on social media, a relative of Kylie May Smith says the threat was made by someone they know. The celebration of life had been closed to the public at large with only family, residents, and community members to attend.

“Kylie was the light in our family. She loved her family, friends, and going to school. She was a talented artist and had dreams of going to art school in the big city of Toronto. Rest in paradise, sweet girl, our family will never be the same without you,” said family when RCMP released victim’s names to the public on Feb. 12.
