The Tkachuk’s admitted that there could be legitimate heat between USA and Canada and explained there was some genuine hatred going into the gold medal game.

ESPN’s Emily Kaplan played some comments from the brothers on Sportscenter and it’s started a a whole new discussion online.

Tkachuk Brothers stoke USA/Canada rivalry even more

Brady mentioned how big this game was to everyone involved, meanwhile Matthew decided to leave his comments for after the game.

Brady talked about how there is some genuine hatred between the two and how for some of the boys in the locker room — there was nothing bigger than this:

There’s hatred there a lot of guys could say this is the biggest game they’ve ever played in.

Meanwhile, you could tell that Matthew shared the same sentiment as his brother, as he went on a tirade post-game regarding how the USA is now the force to be reckoned with in hockey:

Hockey’s our game. It’s the United States of America’s game. It’s the greatest country in the world.

Leave it to the two brothers to make a few comments especially after last year when they were so heavily involved in the chaos that was the 4 Nations. Part of the legendary three fights in nine seconds — he’s no stranger to the animosity between the two teams.

But hearing Tkachuk feel so confident and Matthew seemingly confirming that confident nature, it might seem like a bit of the changing of the guard for international hockey.

At least, for the next four years.
