Harsh wintry weather is due to make a comeback according new weather maps. The WXCharts forecast indicates that snowfall and plummeting temperatures are expected across the UK at the beginning of March. The maps generated using met desk data show temperatures reaching as low as -5C across the UK, with a number of areas impacted by snowfall.

Those in Scotland will see the bulk of the snow, with depths reaching 20cm. Parts of northern England, including Northumberland, also see snowfall. However, depths will be relatively low in comparison to the range seen across Scotland.

The cold weather predicted for March 6 follows harsh conditions forecast for the previous day. From midnight, snowfall will be present across a large part of Scotland, including the Highlands, Aberdeenshire, and Dundee City, with depths already ranging from 1cm to 20cm, and temperatures hitting as low as -5C

Temperatures will range between 0 and 2C across northern England, although snow will only be seen in a few areas, indicated by the small, isolated white patches on the map.

The weather throughout the day will improve, with snow dispersing and temperatures rising, until by evening most of the snow across northern England will have cleared.

According to the Met Office long-range forecast for March 3 to 12, frontal systems will bring rain, strong winds, and snowfall to the North and west, along with “some overnight frost”, but on the bright side, temperatures should be near or above normal.
